The Australian Helicopter Industry Association (AHIA) and Aerospace Australia Limited (the conveners of Avalon 2019) have joined forces to present the Rotortalk conference at Avalon 2019, providing a forum for discussion of the major issues facing the Australian helicopter industry.

Rotortalk, set for Feb. 27 and the morning of Feb. 28 in the Avalon 2019 conference facility, will continue industry dialogue between major biennial Rotortech expositions.

Rotortalk 2019 will include information sessions from helicopter manufacturers, an update on major regulatory and safety issues and practical advice for operators on subjects such as emergency response plans and media engagement.

It will include:

  1. A day of OEM workshops presented by major helicopter manufacturers.
  2. The AHIA: the voice of the Australian helicopter industry.
  3. Minimizing the cost impact of regulatory reforms.
  4. Piston engine operational issues in northern Australia.
  5. Emergency Response Plans and media engagement in the event of an incident.
  6. Night Firebombing Operations: an update on operations to date in Victoria.

Australian Helicopter Industry Association president Ray Cronin said the Rotortalk conference would enable critical discussion in a format designed by and for industry.

“The success of Rotortech 2018 showed that the Australian helicopter industry values a regular forum to talk about major issues and to present a united industry to government and the regulator,” he said.

“Rotortalk 2019 will provide a platform for debate on issues of safety, regulation and operations. It will give operators a chance to talk one on one with the major manufacturers and it will inform the association about industry’s concerns and priorities in our ongoing advocacy on behalf of the Australian helicopter community.”

Aerospace Australia Limited CEO Ian Honnery said the Avalon 2019 team was proud to be involved in presenting the Rotortalk 2019 conference.

“This event provides a unique platform for communication between industry, regulators and government, contributing to safer helicopter operations through the exchange of topical information and ideas,” he said. “Avalon 2019 is proud to bring Rotortalk 2019 to life in partnership with the AHIA.”
