IAHMP reaches out to high school students

International Association of Helicopter Maintenance Professionals Press Release | September 28, 2016

Estimated reading time 1 minute, 24 seconds.

The International Association of Helicopter Maintenance Professionals (IAHMP) has started a new outreach program to introduce high school students to the possibility of a career as helicopter maintenance professionals.
The helicopter industry for years has recognized the global shortage of helicopter maintenance professionals and there is no better time than now to reach out to the next generation and introduce them to a career that they may not be aware of.
“Since our headquarters is located in Glendale, Arizona, we thought that the perfect location to start this program is in our own local area,” said R. Fred Polak, IAHMP’s president/CEO.
On Oct. 25, 2016, the Dysart School District is having its 2016 Career and College Expo event. IAHMP will be there to talk with the students, and with handouts from key industry companies. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office will have a helicopter and crew onsite to answer questions.
On Nov. 10, 2016, IAHMP will meet with interested high school students in the Dysart district and do a presentation about the helicopter industry as a career, and answer questions. The IAHMP is hoping to do other presentations for the Dysart district in the spring of 2017; and hopes to expand its presentations in 2017 to other local school districts; as well as the U.S.
