The opening of the new air ambulance base in Los Alamos, N.M., means patients living in Northern New Mexico will have access to rapid, reliable, and safe emergency care.
Classic Air Medical has opened its newest helicopter air ambulance base in Los Alamos, N.M., to serve the citizens of the region with quick, high-quality air medical transportation. The helicopter and crew will be able to respond to flight requests from Los Alamos and other locations throughout Northern New Mexico.
“It is our mission to integrate into the health care community. To provide more efficiency to healthcare delivery to the citizens of Los Alamos and Northern New Mexico,” stated Tony Henderson, Classic Air Medical chief executive officer.
The new air medical base in Northern New Mexico began transporting patients from the area this month and has been prepared to service the area in its first month of operation. “We have been very pleased with the support we have received from the hospitals here and look forward to working with them long into the future” explained Henderson.
The base will decrease transport times from area hospitals and other receiving locations substantially. The two-hour drive between Los Alamos and Albuquerque can be completed in just over 35 minutes in the now permanently stationed Classic Air Medical Bell 407.
“The addition of a helicopter air ambulance in Los Alamos will provide the community with a critical service in the time of an emergency,” said Wade Patten, program director. “Our goal is to decrease transport times during these emergencies and we are proud to serve the people of this community.”
