In February 2017, Yellowhead Helicopters, Ltd.’s (Yellowhead’s) two Eagle 407HP helicopters surpassed 1,000 hours of flying time in less than one year, a milestone attributed to Eagle’s seamless installation of Honeywell HTS900 engines, 24/7 technical guidance, and world-class aftermarket support.
“We ordered the two upgraded 407HP helicopters in April 2016 for the extra power and payload they offer, fuel savings and reduced CO2 emissions, and the enhanced safety of the dual channel FADEC (full authority digital engine control),” said Jacob Forman, president and CEO of Yellowhead. “Over the last 10 months, we have been extremely happy with the performance of these aircraft, in particular during our busy 2016 high altitude exploration season, finding the HTS900 engine powerful, reliable and precise.”
“As part of our Worldwide Fleet Management platform, we strive to provide every client with an unparalleled range of top-end helicopters, service and customized solutions,” said Barry Kohler, president and CEO of Eagle Copters Ltd. “We work closely with customers like Yellowhead, understanding that a durable and reliable machine is only one part of the business; close communication and access to parts, support and expertise is what supports them in their mission and avoids AOG at all costs.”
The Bell 407 is considered one of the most versatile helicopters in the world. Since 2015, with the support of Bell and Honeywell, Eagle has been replacing the existing Rolls Royce 250-C47 turbine engine with the Honeywell HTS900 to improve performance at high altitudes and hot, ambient temperatures. The effectiveness can be estimated by using Eagle’s “hot and high” payload calculator tool online. The 407HP is approved in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Chile, and Australia with China and Indonesia pending.
Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Eagle has been providing complete fleet management support to operators since 1975. Historically specializing in Bell medium utility helicopters, Eagle has successfully transitioned from a small, family business to a global team of experts, with a network of affiliates in North America, South America, and Australia across multiple original equipment manufacturer (OEM) platforms.
Eagle’s vision to be the global leader in helicopter fleet management includes a full suite of solutions in sales and leasing, expedited parts shipping, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), airframe upgrades, logistics, customization and digital audio control systems.
Also established in 1975, Yellowhead Helicopters is a well-respected, privately-held Canadian company that provides commercial helicopter solutions to the public, industry and government. From bases strategically located throughout British Columbia and Alberta they actively support industries including forestry, mining, petroleum, utility and tourism.
