Estimated reading time 3 minutes, 58 seconds.

Geoff Goodyear has been writing Vertical’s Focus on Safety column for more than a decade. He currently serves as president of Universal Helicopters Newfoundland and Labrador LP.

Vertical Magazine’s Geoff Goodyear was a finalist in the prestigious Kenneth R. Wilson (KRW) magazine awards held in Toronto, Ont., on Tuesday, receiving an honorable mention from the judges for his “Focus on Safety” column.
The KRW Awards recognizes the very best of Canadian business-to-business magazines, and this year marked its 61st edition. Goodyear’s column was a finalist in the “Best Regularly Featured Department or Column” category.
“Geoff has been contributing to Vertical since 2004, and he has been a hit with our readers ever since,” said Mike Reyno, Vertical’s Publisher. “Although Geoff tackles the vitally important and serious topic of safety each issue, he does so in the most imaginative and entertaining way. We’re extremely proud that his work was recognized by the KRW judges as among the very best in the magazine industry.”
Vertical’s sister publication, Skies Magazine, was also a finalist at the KRW awards, winning an honorable mention in the “Best Cover” category for its November/December 2014 issue.
Goodyear is not the only Vertical contributor receiving industry recognition this month, with both Elan Head and Thierry Dubois named as finalists in the 2015 Aerospace Media Awards, to be held June 14 in Paris. Head is nominated for Best Safety, Training & Simulation Submission for her “False Horizon” story on the use (and misuse) of attitude indicators; and for Best In-depth Aviation Feature for her “Going Solo” article on learning to fly the Kaman K-MAX. Dubois is nominated for Best Military Aviation Submission for his “Rescue in the Adriatic” story about the aerial response to the stricken Norman Atlantic ferry, which appeared in Vertical 911Vertical has also been named a finalist in the “Best Integrated Social Media” category.
