Ultimate Heli concludes third season of scientific research in Antarctica

Ultimate Heli has concluded its third successive Antarctica season where it operated off a scientific research vessel and supported two permanent Antarctica stations in the American Highlands and Queen Maud Land in Antarctica. The helicopter and crew departed from Cape Town in late December 2016 and safely returned back to Cape Town at the end of April 2017.

“We are immensely proud of our team for all the hard work that went into our third successive Antartrica season,” said Shaun Roseveare, CEO of Ultimate Heli. “We operated over 130 hours in total with one of our Airbus Helicopter H125s. These operational hours are broken up into over 700 passengers moved and a total of 200 individual under-slung flights with a total of over 16,000 kilograms under-slung cargo carried.

“We will be operating an additional two, medium twin helicopters this coming Antarctica summer season that will be providing search-and-rescue support for seven nations conducting scientific work in a 2.7-million-square-kilometer Queen Maud Land in Antarctica.”
