Torque the Enstrom mast nut in less than 5 minutes

Advanced Torque Products Press Release | February 24, 2018

Estimated reading time 2 minutes, 34 seconds.

Advanced Torque Products (ATP) of Newington, Connecticut, has worked directly with Enstrom Helicopters’ director of product support to improve the torquing method of the mast nut on the F-28F Piston, 480B Turbine, and 280FX Piston; they’re excited to announce this custom tooling kit is now available to anyone working on these applications.

The purpose in developing this alternate tooling was to reduce weight and size, improve accuracy and provide a safer solution for operators. Some of the issues maintenance professionals were facing included working with large 4-foot torque wrenches and multiplier adapters, which required two operators, significant physical force and caused dangerous balance issues during application.

The new ATP761 tooling has addressed all the issues with the current method. The ATP761 drastically reduces application time to less than five minutes, labor down to one person, increases accuracy to within +/-1 percent, brings the required physical force to a max of 34 ft-lbs strength and increases overall operator safety.

“It took me less than five minutes for me to install the torque multiplier and torque the main rotor hub nut on an Enstrom; it was so simple that I had to take a minute to verify that I had actually completed the procedure,” said Enstrom Helicopter Corp.’s director of product support.

ATP Digital Torque Multipliers provide accuracy in the shop and in the field, because it’s equally essential in real-world situations. All ATP Digital Torque Multipliers are 100 percent mechanical utilizing stacked planetary gear systems and can operate accurately within some of the harshest environments. From the polar ice caps of the Antarctic to the Sahara desert, they just work.

ATP is dedicated to the constant innovation and perfection of its Digital Torque Multipliers to meet all the stringent demands of the aerospace industry.

ATP is an ISO9001 certified company, proudly supporting the aerospace industry with torque tools for both assembly and maintenance.
