The Timken Company, a leader in engineered bearings and mechanical power transmission products, announced on Dec. 7 that Timken Aerospace Drive Systems received AS9110C certification.
AS9110C is the latest aerospace industry certification for managing and monitoring quality practices and procedures for aerospace maintenance organizations.
“With AS9110C certification, we can expand our overhaul and repair opportunities to complement our existing government contract for Apache main transmission overhaul, specifically at Boeing Philadelphia on the CH-47 Chinook platform,” said Frank Irey, general manager for aerospace drive systems. “This certification increases our aftermarket presence in gearbox and rotor head component repair.”
Aerospace Drive Systems added overhaul and repair services in 2016, and it is approved to repair Apache gearbox and components, as well as Blackhawk components.
AS9100D certification was upgraded for aerospace drives systems through 2019. AS9100D certification governs the quality compliance of manufactured jet engine parts, helicopter rotor head parts, aircraft quality gears, gearboxes and transmissions.
Timken Aerospace Drive Systems, located in Manchester, Connecticut, provides flight-critical gearboxes and rotor head components for the U.S. Army, Boeing, and Sikorsky, and overhaul and repair services for Apache and Blackhawk helicopters.
