PJ Helicopters launches aircraft paint division with state-of-the-art facility

PJ Helicopters has announced the recent creation of an aircraft painting division, to specialize in rotorcraft and component paint. PJH completed construction and testing of a +2,500-square-foot paintbooth and adjoining preparation bay, preparing the company to launch into a series of shoots on its own aircraft and outside customer aircraft.

“This will really enable us to provide full rotorcraft maintenance and refining solutions,” said PJH director of maintenance services, Justin Gunsauls. “Paired with our Part 145 Repair Station, we’re excited to now offer not only top-tier maintenance, but also the best paint applications in the industry, as rotorcraft paint is an area that we feel has historically been underserved and hard to find.”

The company partnered with AFC Finishing Systems of Oroville, California, to complete the installation. “Since 2014, we’ve been aggressively developing our UH-60 Utility Hawk division. This program now accounts for five of the 30 rotorcraft in the PJH fleet, and we continue to be impressed by both the capabilities of the Utility Hawk, and the response from our customer base,” said PJH director of business development, Seth Gunsauls. “PJH has no intention of slowing down with the UH-60 platform, and the paint division is just another step in bolstering this program in addition to offering paint service to new outside customers.”

PJ Helicopters, Inc. has been in operation since 1968, and received Federal Aviation Administration Repair Station status in 2003.
