The BK117 D2 with the striking Fenestron tail rotor is the 150th helicopter of this type to be delivered by Airbus Helicopters.

The firefighting service of Emden Airport gave the helicopter a warm welcome and baptized it at the same time.

The aircraft is fitted with an four-axis autopilot with auto hover function, an anti-collision system (TCAS), as well as HTAWS, a synthetic vision system and a weather radar. The helicopter is night vision goggle (NVG)- and LPV-approach compatible and is equipped with two flight monitoring systems (HUMS) and vibration health monitoring as well as helicopter emergency egress lights (HEEL), an automatic deployable ELT (ADELT), two external life rafts and a rescue winch for hoist operations.

HTM will use the H145 for supporting the offshore wind business in the German Bay. The primary task of the BK117 D2 is hoisting service engineers at offshore wind turbines.

A big benefit for Helitravel is the H145’s one engine inoperative (OEI) performance and the possibility to carry two hoist teams at the same time. Due to this, the helicopter operator is thinking of buying a second H145 in 2018.
