LifePort, a Sikorsky company, has designed and delivered a sea floor that seals an entire S-92 cabin being utilized for search-and-rescue (SAR) missions.

The unique floor layout allows for the installation of seats, a LifePort Stacking Litter System (SLS) and an internal auxiliary fuel tank. Sikorsky is a Lockheed Martin company.

LifeGard is a protective coating pioneered by LifePort for use in utility and armored flooring. Utility versions for medical, SAR, and offshore applications are sprayed on to a full size mold of the aircraft floor and reinforced with various substrate materials. The floors are custom-designed around specific customer requirements and are in service around the world.

“Our customers look to LifePort for ways to maximize the use of their aircraft. Our sea floor continues this trend by providing enhanced floor durability and preventing salt water floor intrusion. The sea floor not only helps reduce impact damage but also the risk of high maintenance cost due to salt water exposure during SAR operations,” said Dwayne Starnes, LifePort’s general manager for armor and cabinetry.
