With one of the largest helicopter fleets in South Korea, Helikorea provides search-and-rescue, cargo sling, firefighting, passenger transportation, pesticide management and offshore transportation services for civil aviation and government/military contracts.

Helikorea required a solution that could support real-time awareness for its AW169 emergency medical missions while integrating with the standard Korean Medical Centre (KMC) flight tracking system.

Skytrac’s rich, real-time flight following solution provides Helikorea with unlimited monthly aircraft tracking and voice and text communications. To support its emergency medical service (EMS) mandate, position reports are forwarded automatically and in real-time to the central KMC system.

Helikorea staff benefit from the full capabilities of Skytrac’s dispatch and flight monitoring tools – including multiple mapping layers, custom geo-fencing, and optional notices to airmen (NOTAM) and weather integration – while easily complying with local EMS flight following requirements.

As part of the standard Skytrac customer support package, Helikorea also receives supplemental type certificate (STC) and implementation support, and comprehensive on-site training.

“Skytrac specializes in global real-time monitoring and communications services,” said Skytrac vice president of sales, Jan van der Heul. “Particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, we are seeing increased demand for reliable and scalable flight monitoring solutions. For Helikorea, we were able to deliver an accurate, reliable and rich flight tracking solution that met the needs of their growing EMS and search-and-rescue missions.”

“Helikorea was looking to upgrade to a new tracking system that could help simplify our operations. In addition to providing a reliable tracking system, Skytrac delivered exceptional training and implementation services to help us easily transition between systems,” said Helikorea general manager Don Sun Jang.
