Hickok & associates, industry-leading developer of airspace and instrument approach procedures, and ForeFlight, creator of the widely used and award-winning ForeFlight Mobile Integrated Flight App, are previewing at Heli-Expo the ability to display geo-referenced Hickok & associates’ Instrument Flight Procedures on the ForeFlight moving map display.

Shared customers like Air Methods, Metro Aviation, PHI Air Medical, and stand-alone programs use Hickok & associates to design non-part 97 approaches and then import the finished product into ForeFlight.

“We use Hickok and Associates to design our non-97 approaches and we are able to import them into ForeFlight which we use extensively for our EFB program at Air Methods,” said Raj Helweg, Air Methods chief pilot.

“Many of our customer-operators already use ForeFlight,” said Steve Hickok, president of Hickok & associates. “The upcoming support for displaying georeferenced PDF Hickok and associates charts on the ForeFlight moving map, combined with cloud distribution capability, will give customers even more utility out of their investment in Hickok Special Copter instrument flight procedures.”

“Helicopter operators require a variety of mission and company specific information, such as helideck information, proprietary landing zones, company maps, and custom approach procedures from providers like Hickok and associates,” said Tyson Weihs, co-founder and CEO of ForeFlight. “ForeFlight’s content packs allow operators to package and distribute bundles of proprietary information to flight crews, increasing operational efficiency and enhancing safety.”

ForeFlight’s content packs are a powerful new capability that allows individual pilots and flight departments to control the distribution of custom information they need to see in ForeFlight for missions like law enforcement, disaster relief, search and rescue, survey work, and more. Content packs can range from a basic list of waypoints to complex bundles of geo-referenced charts, map layers, linked documents, and custom instrument flight procedures from providers like Hickok & associates.

“Hickok & associates has developed and maintains the largest library of over 750 special copter instrument flight procedures, which that number will continue to grow in 2019,” added Hickok. “With our deep technical expertise in the development and implementation of helicopter IFR/GPS infrastructures, procedures, and policy, we are committed to advancing the safety of operations in the helicopter industry.”
