On June 28, Flightcell International Ltd. was presented with the Richard Pearse Trophy by Aviation New Zealand at its annual gala awards ceremony in Wellington. Each year the award is presented to the company that exemplifies innovation excellence in the New Zealand aviation industry.

“This is recognition from our peers in New Zealand aviation and that makes it a special award,” said John Wyllie, CEO. “We have a talented team of people doing clever things back in Nelson and it’s great to get acknowledgement for all their hard work.”

The secret to Flightcell’s success is its DZMx product; the all-in-one satellite, cellular and tracking product. The culmination of 10 years of development and four variants the DZMx is a recognized global leader in aviation satellite and cellular communications.

The product has moved on from being just smaller, lighter, and smarter than competing products. DZMx now provides customized communications to aviation sectors; such as air medical, agriculture, law enforcement, firefighting and regional airlines.

They key to this capability is modular hardware with a microprocessor at its core and software that can be designed to talk to other third party systems and suit the requirements of each sector.

The main source of innovation and subsequent development is through customer feedback and needs analysis, and as a result all of the features available in the DZMx system are customer generated.

Flightcell has also gone to great lengths to work closely with external tracking providers and industry specific equipment manufacturers to ensure compatibility and synergy with a wide array of customer groups.

Flightcell has achieved significant business success with a wide-range of companies and organizations that include the U.S. State Department, U.S. Air Force, Army and Marine Corps, U.S. and Swedish airborne police forces, Colombian, Chilean, South Korean and Turkish Air Forces, British and Norwegian search-and-rescue, Royal Flying Doctor Service (Australia) and factory installations at Lockheed Martin, AgustaWestland, Bell Helicopters, Sikorsky and Airbus Helicopters.
