The museum, which celebrates Long Island’s vital role in aviation progress, recognized Ferraro for her contributions to aerospace innovation and safety.

Under Ferraro’s leadership, and together with her brother Joseph Spinosa, vice president of business development, East/West has grown into a globally recognized design and manufacturing firm of critical safety components for today’s most innovative aircraft.

“I am deeply honored and humbled by this recognition,” Ferraro said. “For 50 years, from its beginnings at my parent’s dining room table where my father began designing and developing small oxygen components, East/West Industries has been dedicated to saving aircrew lives.

“We’ve grown to a team of more than 80 talented design engineers, management and support personnel that we’re proud to call family, and we look forward to continuing to innovatively support the aerospace and defense industry.”

East/West Industries was founded in 1968 by Ferraro’s parents. Ferraro joined the business 15 years later and has since built the company through successful fiscal, strategic and operational leadership.

Over the past 35 years, she’s forged successful business relationships with major aerospace and defense contractors, including Northrop Grumman, the Boeing Company, Sikorsky Aircraft and Lockheed Martin. Recently, she led the most significant business expansion in East/West history, including a move to a new facility, expanding the company’s footprint by approximately 50 percent, and creating a plan to expand the workforce by 40 percent in three years.

In addition to the Leroy R. Grumman Award, Ferraro was recognized by the Long Island-based Moxxie Mentoring Foundation, a young women’s mentoring organization, receiving their inaugural Leadership Award in October.

East/West Industries, Inc. was recognized in October as well, named one of Long Island’s Top Workplaces by Long Island daily newspaper, Newsday. Companies named by Newsday provide an engaging workplace culture, empower employees to work at their full potential, project a sense of genuine appreciation of employees, and offer fair pay and benefits packages.
