United States Coast Guard Press Release | June 14, 2017

Estimated reading time 0 minute, 57 seconds.

A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew, Alaska State Trooper crews and local volunteers are searching for Peter and Justin Nanouk, ages 55 and 35, near St. Michael.

The Nanouk’s boat, Baywolf, is a 22-foot aluminum open-top ocean boat. The father and son left Unalakleet, Saturday morning (June 10) for a fishing trip to St. Michael.

Watchstanders at the 17th Coast Guard District received a request for assistance from ASTs on June 13. Watchstanders requested the launch of the Jayhawk aircrew.

“We are searching extensively with the Troopers and volunteers in the area where the father and son were fishing,” said Adam De Rocher, a command duty officer for the 17th District. “We greatly appreciate the expert knowledge the Troopers and volunteers bring to the table in this effort to locate the Nanouks.”

Weather on scene was reported as four-mile-per-hour winds and two-foot seas.
