The agreement allows CanWest to sell and install Honeywell products — including the popular BendixKing avionics brand — worldwide, with the exception of Japan.

“Honeywell’s going to be able to capitalize on using our global task force — our in-country support teams — to perform modifications and installations around the world,” said Tom Jackson, president of CanWest Aerospace.

“And then for us, it gives us a superior product line to install Honeywell avionics and mission equipment into these aircraft, both military and commercial.”

CanWest and Honeywell sealed the agreement at HAI Heli-Expo in Dallas, Texas, earlier this month. It provides CanWest with a wider market reach and is seen as a milestone for the company.

“I think there’s a good marriage of two good companies with their own strengths,” said Terence Lim, sales and marketing manager for CanWest Aerospace. “And I think it’s a good fit, because with our overhaul capability and our global reach, we represent Honeywell very well in the global market.”

Jackson noted CanWest is also stocking source material for CanWest’s legacy product line.

This agreement adds another premier avionics brand to CanWest’s portfolio — one that already includes Rockwell Collins products.

Ultimately, the agreement is seen as a way to better serve CanWest customers while building on the company’s existing business philosophies.

“It also grows the reach for Honeywell to their customer base,” said Jackson. “Honeywell is a big company, and because we’re working in-country in so many different countries around the world, we’re able to better support the customer and be able to promote the Honeywell brand within that country. We’ll be like a buffer to fulfill customers’ requirements, either through services or parts.”

CanWest Aerospace is based at Langley Regional Airport, about 55 kilometers southeast of Vancouver, British Columbia.

The company’s West Coast location provides easy shipping and access to Canada, the United States, South America, Europe and the Asia Pacific market through a modern, multi-modal transportation network including air, sea, road and rail.
