The Västra Götaland County’s new ambulance helicopter is running. After just over half a year from the contract being signed, Babcock Scandinavian AirAmbulance (BSAA) was able to start the business in Gothenburg, Sweden, on June 1 with a new Leonardo AW169.
The punctual deployment follows after an intensive preparation work with the region.
The helicopter takes over the well-known Sikorsky S-76 model, which has faithfully served the region since 2002.
With a state-of-the-art Leonardo AW169, the base is now well-equipped for the future, increasing both the capacity of the unit and its capacity.
With Gothenburg as a new base for Babcock Scandinavian AirAmbulance, it currently operates a total of 10 ambulance helicopter bases, of which seven are in Sweden.
