Texas Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Shannon Massey, Bell’s vice president of assembly operations, to the Aerospace and Aviation Advisory Committee. The committee assists in the state’s economic development efforts to recruit and retain aerospace and aviation jobs and investments in Texas.
“We appreciate Governor Abbott’s recognition of Shannon’s merits, leadership — at Bell and in her broader community — and the unique perspective she will bring to the Aerospace and Aviation Advisory Committee,” said Robert Hastings, Bell’s executive vice president of strategic communications and chief of staff. “Texas has been home to Bell’s global headquarters since 1951, and we are proud Shannon will have a voice in keeping our industry strong across the state for years to come.”
Massey oversees Bell’s aircraft assembly in Amarillo, Texas, and Ozark, Alabama, which includes safety, quality, cost, and delivery performance to military and commercial customers. Massey is a leader in her community and partners with local educators to ensure a skilled labor pipeline is developed to support future demand needs.
She also serves as board member to the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Amarillo and Canyon and co-chairs the West Texas A&M University Path to 125 intellectual resources committee. Additionally, Massey is a member of the Society of Women Engineers, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, American Helicopter Society, American Chemical Society, and American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
Massey received a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University and a master of business administration from Texas Christian University.

Bell employs more than 4,000 employees across its Fort Worth, Arlington, Grand Prairie and Amarillo facilities and yields an estimated $4.6 billion annual economic impact.
Massey’s appointment was announced on Dec. 7 and will continue through August 2021.
