Bell has announced that the Bell 505 cargo hook has been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to carry up to 2,000 pounds.
The company said Northwest Helicopters will be using the cargo hook capabilities on its 505 aircraft for lifting air conditioning units, building materials, and carrying water cargo for firefighting operations.
“Mission versatility is at the root of the Jet Ranger legacy, and it was extremely important to continue that heritage when we designed the Bell 505,” said Lashan Bonaparte, program director for the Bell 505. “This is an important enhancement to the aircraft, specifically for our parapublic and utility operators.”
