The American Helicopter Museum and Education Center (AHMEC) is ready for Santa Claus’ exciting arrival via helicopter on Dec. 14, during AHMEC’s annual SantaFest. Santa lands on the museum’s helipad to greet anxious onlookers then makes his way inside to his workshop to hear children’s wish lists and spread holiday cheer.
SantaFest begins at 10 a.m. and lasts until 1 p.m., with Santa landing at 11 a.m. The fun event also features refreshments, storytelling, holiday movies and a craft activity. PAWS for People’s therapy dogs will add to the festivities.
Admission is $10 per person and includes a photo opportunity with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Helicopter rides begin shortly after 11:00 a.m., weather permitting, and cost $60.00 per person.
The American Helicopter Museum and Education Center is the nation’s premier aviation museum devoted exclusively to helicopters. Established in 1996, the nonprofit organization collects, restores and displays rotary-wing aircraft, including over 35 civilian and military helicopters, autogiros and convertiplanes. It uses these aircraft to educate the public about aviation, engineering and the sciences to inspire future generations of innovators.
