AKV, Inc. has announced its new iPad app for the ETM1000 which is specifically designed for external load operations, giving the pilot the ability to add gauges where they need it.

Jonathan Gunn, owner and principal designer remarks that this system adds a unique capability to the ETM1000 by providing the pilot with the ability to maintain the critical sight line on an external load therefore increasing safety and preventing an exceedance. It also reduces the cost dramatically of having to install gauges which, for some helicopters is not feasible.

AKV has also been working on expanding the ETM1000 with additional capabilities which will soon add the option of engine cycle counting with a remote display, or optional integration with the Flightcell DZMx. Integration with the Flightcell DMZX will provide cycle counting from the ETM1000 on its built-in display and transmission of the end of day cycles including live exceedance transmission.

FAA approval is expected in second quarter 2018. Currently the ETM1000 is available for integration with the Latitude iON100, S100 & S200 flight data recorder and satellite tracking systems.

The ETM1000 provides monitoring and recording of the drive train for trending purposes as well as being configured to emulate the Rotorcraft Flight Manual and record exceedances based on the operating limitations for all engine and rotor parameters. The ETM1000 provides the pilot with panel mounted pushbutton annunciators for system health indication and a power check recording feature as well as side tone that will alert the pilot when operating in close proximity to takeoff and transient limits.

Our line of Arriel 1, LTS101, T53 and Makila Cycle Counters provide the operator with the ability to get the most operating cycle life out of the engine when compared to relying on the pilot to accrue cycles. The pilot process is very conservative whereas the cycle counter utilizes a much more precise and less conservative process based on the engine manufacturer’s cycle counting algorithm.

For a live demo of the new ETM100 iPad app and DZMx interface, or any of AKV’s engine monitoring systems, visit its Heli-Expo booth C2326.
