Job Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety program position. Aviation Safety is preferred. A bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety or Aviation related field is preferred but not required. Aviation background with HEMS experience preferred. CSP Certification and OSHA 30-hour Training Certification are preferred but not required. Candidates are expected to operate effectively in a team environment. Candidates must be willing and available to work other shifts or overtime as needed to provide for accident investigations or site visits. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-function/cross-company teams Must be able to pass drug test background check, lift 50lbs, and access heights. A valid Driverrsquo;s License is required. Desired Skills: Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite Familiar with FAA Heliport Design AC 150/5390-2D and Airport and Facility planning Advisory Circulars NTSB or Military training in aviation and ground accident investigation Current or former Commercial, Instrument, Rotor wing Pilot with HEMS experience desired

Job Description

The Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that appropriate standards are established and maintained to provide the highest level of safety for company personnel. The Safety Manager develops coordinates and implements preventive measures affecting present and potential problems relating to mandatory FAR and Company directives. The Safety Manager acts as a technical correspondent to the FAA and Industry groups.

Provide company leadership and employees with information and guidance on regulatory requirements, including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI, FAA, and NTSB.
Develop and maintain an SMS in accordance with FAA Order 8000-369 and FAA Advisory Circular 120-92B, ldquo;Safety Management Systems for Aviation Service Providers.rdquo; including safety programs, processes, and systems to promote safety awareness and reduce accidents and risks.
Responsible for Aircraft Accident and Incident Reporting to the FAA and NTSB in accordance with the FAA Order 8020.11C, Aircraft Accident and Incident Notification, Investigation and Reporting.
Conduct routine audits and inspections to identify and eliminate non-compliance issues.
Provide mentoring and leadership to team members related to safety and environmental issues; including but not limited to incident investigations, toolbox talks, flight safety, and crew briefings.
Conduct training and communication campaigns to raise company-wide awareness.
Perform hazard analysis and risk assessments.
Assist in accident and incident investigations and recommend corrective actions.
Manage safety projects related to facilities, ground and flight operations, and maintenance operations; including participation in accident/incident investigation, risk management, and process hazard abatement.
Safety professionals will occasionally be required to travel by air or drive between various locations and pre-designated landing areas in the central and south Texas company service area or between company facility locations for inspections and meetings.
Data management; including managing the companyrsquo;s Baldwin Safety reporting program and other tools (Windows Suite: Outlook, Access, and Excel). Requires a proactive approach to mine data, make data-driven decisions, and promote projects.
Serve as interface and liaison for safety-related topics with the board of directors, CEO, DO, department heads, employees, customers, auditors, and regulators. Assist in compliance audits and periodic reviews by governmental regulators (e.g. FAA, CAMTS, TXDSHS, etc.).
Coordinate with the Company HR department to investigate and track workplace illnesses, injuries, and accidents and ensure OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 logs are maintained.
