POSITION-SPECIFIC CONDITIONS: Training, Education and Experience Seven years of diversified maintenance and repair experience as an FAA-certified Aircraft and Powerplant mechanic on the same category and class of aircraft used by the LVMPD (see aircraft listed below in Best Candidates section), including four years of increasingly responsible experience using the Inspection Authorization License to sign off on air-worthiness in the repair and maintenance of  helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft; ORFour years of experience with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department as a Helicopter/Aircraft Mechanic, with three years holding the Inspection Authorization License, immediately preceding the date of the first test instrument.  Must remain in this classification at the time of the administration of the first test instrument, and continue to be in this classification to remain eligible for this position.   High school diploma or G.E.D. supplemented by specialized certified training and classes in helicopter and aircraft repair, including factory training on aircraft and/or engine maintenance for category and class aircraft used by LVMPD. Possession of a current FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.  Candidates will be required to submit a copy in the form of an attachment, (both front and back) of this Certificate with the online application.Possession of a current FAA Inspection Authorization License.  Candidates will be required to submit a copy in the form of an attachment, (both front and back) of this Certificate with the online application.Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver license. Best Candidates Will HaveMaintenance/inspection experience on MD500/MD530 series, and Airbus H135, H145 series helicopters. Continued education in aviation, management, or a business-related field. Three years of experience supervising aircraft maintenance staff. Personal Appearance:While on duty, and/or representing the Department, uniformed or otherwise, all Department employees will be neat and clean in their appearance in public. Employees are prohibited from stretching or "gauging" their earlobes. All jewelry implants will not be exposed or visible while on duty. Tattoos or branding will not be exposed or visible while on duty and/or representing the Department. Such markings must be covered by clothing, and may not be covered by make-up or bandages. Tattoos or branding anywhere on the body that promote racism/discrimination, indecency, extremist or supremacist philosophies, lawlessness, violence, or contain sexually explicit material are prohibited. Be available for callouts; Maintain a current FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate, Inspection Authorization License, and Nevada driver license. Vision sufficient to read an aircraft's control board, computer screen, as well as fine prints in documents. Color vision sufficient to distinguish among colored power and signal cables and color indicators on an aircraft's control board. Hearing sufficient to hear conversations and directions in person and over the telephone and radio. Dexterity and mobility sufficient to operate an aircraft, standard office equipment, and motorized vehicles; climb ladders and stairs; work indoor and outdoor, including the office and maintenance shop. Agility sufficient to bend, twist, crawl, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, and reach overhead, forward, and backward; rotate neck and trunk. Endurance sufficient to stand and move around for long periods of time to work in the repair shop; sit at personal computer terminals.
