This year’s “Russian Hour” topic is the Russian experience in helicopter firefighting. Attention of the event will be focused on the wide theoretical and practical experience of the Russian helicopter firefighters. Specialists from Russian Helicopters are to speak about modern Russian rotorcraft capabilities; prominent helicopter operators are to share their aerial firefighting experience in Russia and abroad, and representatives from the Russian governmental agencies to present their views on current and future methods and techniques of helicopter firefighting.

Wildfire, industrial and urban conflagrations annually cause enormous damage to the environment and global economy, not to mention endangering human lives. Considerable danger is present in remote areas where the aircraft may be the only way for reconnaissance and fire extinguishing.

Special attention during the event will be given to the Ka-32A11BC multirole helicopter, which proved to be extremely effective in firefighting missions. This helicopter is capable of extinguishing fires in practically all kinds of conditions, including in high rise buildings with use of a Bambi Bucket or a water cannon.

Due to the advantages of its coaxial rotor system, the Ka-32A11BC is the only helicopter in its class capable of performing complex maneuvers with a high degree of accuracy even in unstable atmospheric and climatic conditions. The Ka-32A11BC’s firefighting equipment includes more than 40 options.

The helicopter is used in about 30 countries around the world, it meets the FAR-29 requirements and is certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency as well as by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia.

“Russian Hour” is a traditional event providing helicopter professionals and enthusiasts from all over the world with latest information on Russian helicopter industry, and a unique chance to discuss the most pressing issues with leading Russian helicopter and helicopter equipment manufacturers, designers and operators. The event is hosted by the Russian Helicopter Industry Association and it was featured at such industry events like Heli-Expo in the U.S. and at the Paris Air Show in France’s Le Bourget.

Aerial Firefighting Asia Pacific 2016 is a part of the regular event, which is dedicated to the discussion, debate and learning skills of safe aerial firefighting.
