The paint restoration was performed in Commercial Jet’s state-of-the-art aircraft paint hangar at its facility at the Dothan Regional Airport.

“It’s been particularly gratifying to be able to give back to the community through this restoration,” said David Sandri, president of Commercial Jet. “Through this display of the Huey in Dothan, we also honor all those who are serving and have served in our military.”

Designed and first manufactured by Bell Helicopter (Texas) in the late 1950s, this UH-1H was the fourth modification of the basic design UH-1A Iroquois series, from which Huey was derived. With more than 5,500 such units produced between 1967 and 1982, this helicopter was mostly used as a troop carrier and MedEvac, with some operated as gunships.
