Thales brought its vision of the cockpit of the future to Heli-Expo 2014, in the form of the Avionics 2020 helicopter cockpit demonstrator. Modeled on the principles of the fixed-wing cockpit demonstrator it unveiled at the 2013 Paris Air Show, the cockpit is founded on the principles of natural and direct hands-on interaction.
The system’s architecture includes multiple touchscreens, and open and customizable systems to provide a mission-centric approach — allowing the pilot access to all the elements he or she needs to make the right decisions at the right time.
Richard Perrot, head of marketing at Thales, takes Vertical’s Dan Megna through the key aspects of the system.
