Thenew MR510 PLB will be a significant safety tool for the PolishMinistry of Health helicopter aircrews in case of emergency. TheMR510 offers military-grade performance, with advanced featuresincluding global positioning system (GPS) technology, which makes iteasier and quicker for the COSPAS-SARSAT satellite network to pick updistress signals and relay an accurate location to rescuers.

Aboutthe MR510 Personal Locator Beacon (PLB)

TheMR510 is the most advanced COSPAS-SARSAT certified handheld PLBavailable today and is a rugged, multipurpose survival radio andlocator device designed for civil and military aircrews, mariners,and ground personnel.

Transmissionsfrom the MR510 are omni-directional and continue for at least 24hours at temperature extremes down to -20C (Class 2) to helpfacilitate detection by satellite, aircraft or vessels, or by anyother land, sea or airborne installations monitoring thesefrequencies. Class 1 performance (24 hours at -40C) is available onrequest.

Whenactivated, the device transmits sweep tone radio distress signals onthe international VHF/UHF emergency frequencies, simultaneouslysending messages on the COSPAS-SARSAT (CIS) satellite frequency,providing detection and accurate positioning anywhere in the world.Automatic activation either by lanyard or water immersion as well asone-handed manual operation is also an important capability.

Two-wayvoice communications with SAR crews is utilized through VHF or UHFaviation and marine emergency frequencies mode that also aids inlocating the user. This feature can be manually or remotely activatedwhen the unit is operating in beacon mode. A simple built-in-test(BIT) function ensures quick and easy operational readiness of theunit and is self contained, with a waterproof rating to 10 meters andbattery shelf life of over five years.

TheMR510 PLB is designed to be used as a personal hand-carried emergencylocator device. When used aboard an aircraft, vessel or vehicle, noinstallation provisions like mounting brackets or electricalinterfacing is required.
