Have you ever wanted to go behind the scenes on a Vertical Magazine photo shoot, capturing your own air-to-air images with some of the leading names in the helicopter industry? Now, here’s your chance.
Vertical Magazine and Bell Helicopter are pleased to announce the opening of the 2014 Vertical Photo Contest, which is accepting entries through Oct. 17. Now in its sixth year, the helicopter industry’s leading photo contest is once again offering more than $3,000 in cash prizes, plus a grand prize that includes publication of the winning photo on the cover of the December-January issue of Vertical.
This year, however, there’s a twist. The grand prize winner of the 2014 Vertical Photo Contest will have the chance to accompany Vertical publisher Mike Reyno on an all-expenses-paid, on-location photo shoot sponsored by Bell Helicopter. Alternately, he or she can opt for a cash prize of $1,000.
“Throughout the year, we see amazing photos from amateur and professional photographers working in all corners of the helicopter industry,” said Reyno. “We’re excited to partner with Bell Helicopter to recognize these outstanding photographers and welcome one of them behind the scenes at Vertical.”
This year, the Vertical Photo Contest is accepting entries in four categories: Helicopters at Work, Beauty Shots in the Field, In the Cabin, and Helicopter Maintenance. In addition to the grand prize, there will be three cash prizes awarded in each category: a first-place prize of $500, a second-place prize of $250, and a third-place prize of $100.
The contest has a modest entry fee of $10. Throughout the contest period, however, photographers can win free entry by sharing their photos on the Vertical page on Facebook or on Instagram using the hashtag #verticalmag. Each week, Vertical will share selected finalists on Facebook and Instagram; Vertical will waive the entry fee for the photographer whose image has received the most “likes” by the start of the following week.
The contest is open to any photographer in the world, amateur or professional, who is at least 18 years of age as of Oct. 17, 2014. The contest is void where prohibited by law.
