By Vertical Mag | December 3, 2014

Estimated reading time 1 minute, 47 seconds.

Vertical recently had the opportunity to catch up with the transport team for Nationwide Children’s Hospital, an Ohio-based emergency medical service operating one fully dedicated Airbus Helicopters EC145. The aircraft, appropriately named Monarch 1, conducts over 2,000 transports a year for paediatric and neonatal patients. Chosen for its speed and large capacity, the program’s EC145 is able to support Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s family-oriented care.

“We want to make sure we’re able to offer the opportunity for family to ride along and be with their patient,” said Amy Haughn, program manager for Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s transport team. “Being able to actually bring a parent with us was one of the primary reasons that we wanted to make sure we had enough space.”

Metro Aviation acts as the program’s operator partner and also did the completions on the aircraft. In the above video, Vertical gets inside the aircraft to see the custom finishes and to learn more about the unique capabilities offered by this program.
