Next year at the IX International Helicopter Industry Exhibition HeliRussia 2016, held May 19-21, a significant expansion of the program with the specialized exposition of the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs or “drones”) and associated accessories is expected. Flight demonstration of several models is scheduled in the course of event.
Modern UAVs vary by the type, control procedures, size and designation. They are used both in civilian and military fields. In Russia development of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) complex called “AeroNet” is supported by the government via the National Technology Market Development Initiative.
According to the marketing researches, in 2014 the market share of UAS estimated $6.76 billion, where roughly 66 per cent of this amount pertains to the military, 20 per cent – to the security uses, and the remaining 14 per cent – to the civil UAVs.
According to Russian experts, by 2035 the UAS industry would evolve radically and UAV market share will reach $200 billion with the share of Russian companies more than $40 billion.
Today civilian UAVs are used, for instance, by the security and emergency agencies, in the movie and media industries, UAVs are deployed for monitoring and by the various event organizers.
With the increasing availability of civilian UAVs they are more often being used for recreational flying and in amateur and professional photo and video-shooting. The most common type of civil UAV is a multicopter.

The use of UAS in the military has gained popularity due to their multitasking: UAVs are deployed to conduct reconnaissance and surveillance with low risk level, they are used deliver freights and some UAVs are able to carry armament.
The most popular UAVs in the military are the aircraft and helicopter types. Both renowned and new design bureaus in Russia work on development of new UAS for Russian MoD.

One of the main parts of HeliRussia is high-grade business program. At HeliRussia 2016 it is planned to address the topics of legal regulation of civilian UAV use, as well as other relevant issues. Various representatives of the different aviation industry spheres are attending business program, which makes it highly versatile and productive.
It also gives a chance to companies from the UAS industry to draw additional attention to their products and industry.
