Turbomeca launched a new customer care program at Heli-Expo 2015 that delivers additional warranty solutions for its engines throughout their lifecycle.
The Turbomeca Care Program provides for enhanced coverage options for all new and current civil engine models. The OEM will be providing no-cost extended coverage for repaired engines, as well as new engine warranty extensions for a fee. Customers will be able to choose the amount of their new engine extended coverage in hours or months, depending on what best meets their needs.
“At Turbomeca, we want to provide the best of the best,” said the company’s head of services design and development, Christian Rossi. “We are not yet where we want to be in terms of customer satisfaction, but we are listening to what our customers need and we are responding.”
He told Vertical that repaired engines will have their warranties extended from 100 flying hours to 500 flying hours, or nine months, whichever comes first. Buyers of new engines will be able to purchase extended warranty coverage for up to five years, or 2,500 flight hours.
Beginning in April, Turbomeca will also be offering pre-purchase engine inspection services. “This is for customers who want to sell second-hand helicopters,” explained Rossi. “To increase the value of this asset, they can buy a pre-purchase inspection by Turbomeca experts — the same concept as a certified used car. A field technician will inspect the engine and the documentation and will perform ground testing. If the engine is ok, Turbomeca will provide a warranty for six months or 50 flight hours.”
He added that this certification is designed to give a buyer peace of mind while maintaining the value of the seller’s asset.
Pre-purchase engine inspections will be available through Turbomeca and its worldwide network of distributors and certified maintenance centres. Rotortrade Services in Malaysia is the first customer to sign up for this new service.
