The Ontario Police Air Support Unit is celebrating its 25th year.

Started in 1990 with two MD 500E models and seven members, the unit now has 10 full-time members, two alternate tactical flight officers, two full-time mechanics and an administrative assistant.  The unit flies two AS350 B2s and just took delivery of a AS350 B3e (H125) last month.

The unit flies 1,000 hours a year per aircraft and is available 20 hours a day, seven days a week. As important as the highly trained personnel and top of the line equipment they fly, is the support the unit receives from the police department and city administration.

The unit is committed to evolving and continually developing to meet the needs of the growing community it serves.
