Southern California Edison (SCE) has taken delivery of a Bell 205A1++ helicopter, newly rebuilt by Summit Helicopters of Roanoke, Va. Delivery took place at Bell Helicopter in Piney Flats, Tenn., on March 17, 2015.
SCE chief pilot Torbjorn “T.C.” Corell said Summit did a “fantastic” job of customizing the helicopter to SCE’s specifications. “The aircraft will play an important role in order to support SCE infrastructure and will give our department capabilities we never had in house before,” he said, noting that the helicopter will primarily be used to support SCE’s ongoing pole replacement program.
