Independent Helicopters is sponsoring a fly-in breakfast this Saturday, April 30, to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS’s) Man and Woman of the Year 2016 campaign.
The breakfast will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Saratoga County Airport (5B2) in Ballston Spa, New York. Organizers are requesting a $10 donation per person, and helicopter rides will be available at the event for $50 per person.
Contributions will support the campaign of Independent Helicopters assistant chief pilot Matthew Taggard, who is aiming to raise $100,000 for LLS in his bid for the society’s “Man of the Year” title. The Man and Woman of the Year campaign is a national, 10-week event that encourages individuals to use their leadership abilities and resources to conduct their own fundraising efforts for LLS, which exists to find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients.
The male and female candidates who raise the most funds during the 10-week period will be named Man and Woman of the Year. Candidates run in honor of their local chapter’s Boy and Girl of the Year, who are local blood cancer patient survivors. Taggard, whose own family has been devastated by cancer, is running in honor of three-year-old Lucas Santoro and 16-year-old Kendra Sisco.
