Golden Hour acquires direct competitor emsCharts

Golden Hour and emsCharts Press Release | September 19, 2014

Estimated reading time 2 minutes, 20 seconds.

Golden Hour has acquired emsCharts through a confidential, negotiated settlement. emsCharts will operate as a separate, wholly owned subsidiary of Golden Hour and will continue to be headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pa. This transaction eliminates the need to enforce the permanent injunction against emsCharts.

“While this transaction is a positive outcome, it is even better for our respective customers,” said Dr. Kevin Hutton, CEO of Golden Hour. “We look forward to providing the leading ePCR products and services to both air and ground emergency transportation markets, working together to support our industry, customers, partners, and employees. While we each share different pasts, we are excited to join together to bring truly differentiated services, as well as innovative product offerings, to better support our customers and the industry as a whole. We look forward to welcoming, learning from, and growing with the extraordinarily talented and professional men and women of emsCharts.”

As a subsidiary of Golden Hour, emsCharts will continue to honor all customer and sales channel contracts. Furthermore, emsCharts will continue to support all sales channels including distributors, resellers and billing partners.

“After years of competing against each other as leaders in the industry, we are now joining Golden Hour and moving forward together with both companies focused on the future,” said Pete Goutmann, President of emsCharts. “This will allow both John Massie and I to do what we do best – focus on our customers and ensure the stability of our employees who believe in what we do and how we do it. We started this company with a commitment to do what is best for our customers, and this transition allows us to return our attention to supporting them and their evolving needs.”

The joining of these two industry leaders is the result of the resolution of the patent infringement lawsuit filed in 2006. This transaction eliminates the need to enforce the permanent injunction that had been ordered against emsCharts, and it ensures that emsCharts will continue to provide high-level services to the entire EMS industry without change.
