Genesys Aerosystems has announced that AgustaWestland has selected the Genesys IDU-680 Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) as standard factory-installed equipment on the AW109 Trekker, AgustaWestland’s new twin-engine, single-pilot IFR helicopter, the latest in the venerable AW109 legacy.
The IDU-680 is already in service worldwide on the Sikorsky S-61T, Embraer Tucano, Textron Scorpion, and Grob G 120TP. It features next-generation synthetic vision, all TAWS classes (Class-A, -B, and -C fixed-wing, HTAWS, and Enhanced HTAWS), embedded FMS, integrated audio/radio management, built-in digital flight recorder, all Level-A software, and is MIL-STD NVIS A & B compatible.
“Single-pilot IFR capability and flexibility for special-mission applications led AgustaWestland to select the IDU-680 for the Trekker,” said Gordon Pratt, vice president for business development with Genesys Aerosystems. “We’re pleased to be an OEM partner with AgustaWestland on this new platform and to support them in bringing the Trekker to market as an affordable single-pilot IFR aircraft with very advanced capabilities.”
The IDU-680 has built-in interfaces for FLIR, DF, DME/TACAN, Datalink, and other special-mission equipment, allowing for ease of future upgrades. The 3D synthetic vision EFIS from Genesys enhances safety, reduces pilot workload, increases flexibility, and lowers cost of ownership. It offers advanced, end-to-end avionics for special-mission, military trainer, light-, medium-, and heavy-lift rotorcraft.
