FlightSafety and Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC), a United Technologies Corp. company, have announced the expansion of their training services agreement originally signed in 2010.
“We are very pleased and proud to extend our agreement with Pratt & Whitney Canada for another 10 years,” said David Davenport, Executive Vice President. “This demonstrates both companies’ commitment to enhancing aviation safety worldwide and elevating the overall training experience available to maintenance technicians supporting aircraft equipped with P&WC engines with the highest quality training and outstanding service they deserve and expect.”
“The new and expanded training agreement will allow us to offer a best-in-class training experience to our global customers for many years to come,” said Timothy Swail, Vice President, Customer Programs, P&WC. “P&WC’s expertise combined with FlightSafety’s extensive network, leveraging the latest in training technologies, such as distance LiveLearning, enables us to deliver the most advanced high-tech training in the industry.”
FlightSafety provides advanced technology-based maintenance training for all P&WC products including turboprop, turbofan, turboshaft engines as well as Auxiliary Power Units (APUs). The training programs offer in-depth classroom and hands-on instruction designed to develop, expand and refine proficiency. P&WC engine training is available at 12 Learning Centers with classes scheduled to begin in Bangalore, India in 2016.
“Through establishment of new local FlightSafety-P&WC Learning Centers, FlightSafety is able to deliver training closer to our customers, serve them in their local language and in familiar surroundings,” said Swail. “These offerings, together with new e-learning technologies, will make world class factory approved training available to all customers globally.”
FlightSafety has delivered over 12,000 courses for P&WC’S engines to customers from 126 countries to date. This includes those taken at learning centers around the world and through eLearning and interactive distance learning with WebEC.
In other news from this week’s NBAA Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition, FlightSafety has announced the introduction of its Master Aviator certification program, which “sets a new standard for pilot achievement and recognition,” according to David Davenport, executive vice president. “The program will help pilots to develop a deeper knowledge of the aircraft they fly and help to ensure a safe and correct response to a broad range of demanding, unexpected situations.”
The progressive Master Aviator curriculum builds upon the fundamentals covered by initial and recurrent training. FlightSafety Master Aviator certification is earned by completing a series of advanced aircraft-specific courses and a choice of electives. At least one FlightSafety initial or recurrent training event must also be completed every eight months.
FlightSafety has also introduced a number of new training offerings. To its expansive series of eLearning courses, Flight Safety has added NextGen Communication/Navigation, designed to familiarize flight departments with the Next Generation of aviation/Future Air Navigation System (FANS). Other recently introduced online courses include CPDLC for the Garmin G3000/G5000 avionics suite, Minimum Navigation Performance Specifications (MNPS), and Adverse Weather – Monsoon Operations.
Meanwhile, FlightSafety is also introducing a new International Procedures Line Oriented Flight Training (LOFT) course starting in December 2015. The course will of eight hours of ground school and three hours of simulator training, and will help to enable pilots to respond correctly to in-flight contingencies in international airspace.
