South African-based Fireblade Aviation, which manages the only fixed-base operation (FBO) at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport (ORT), has selected FBO One, from Amsterdam Software, as its online management tool to run its FBO and fuel management activity.

Fireblade Aviation FBO, which became operational on Sept. 1, 2014, is aiming to fulfill a market demand for a world-class international FBO facility at South Africa’s main airport. To this end, the company offers 24-hour refueling from a brand new on-site fuel farm, flight planning, a full concierge service to arrange ground and onward arrangements including commercial aircraft connections, aircraft detailing, apron parking, ground power units, potable water, South African landing clearance, inflight catering, an exclusive VIP lounge, a dedicated spa, meeting rooms, and full crew facilities. International customs and immigration approval services are anticipated to be on offer by the end of the first quarter to compliment the existing services.

“Our service offering is expansive which generates a huge amount of planning, paperwork, communications and logistics across all the departments involved,” explains Bjorn Ischner, Fireblade Aviation general manager. “We need to ensure we can easily follow the requirements of each client. The FBO One software has an intuitive interface, and offers us the capability to customize it to our own unique service levels. This was one of the principle reasons we selected the product.”

The online product has the added benefit for Fireblade Aviation of being accessible on any (mobile) device. With the footprint of the Fireblade Aviation hangars, apron, fuel farm and main building spreading over more than 60,000 square meters, the option to access the required information from anywhere ensures workflow efficiency.

“The selection of FBO One as the software management system to support the business reflects our desire to provide our clients with the highest quality service from operational handling to providing accurate and timely invoicing. We are already seeing the benefits of the software and are excited to be working with this leading provider,” concludes Ischner.

Ischner will attend the NBAA Schedulers and Dispatchers conference in San Jose in February.
