Epic Helicopters’ new livery, the exterior color and graphics, will sport a pink and purple ribbon on Epic’s flagship helicopter to show the company’s support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Texas Christian University’s Frogs for The Cure.
Epic Helicopters has now served on the Frogs for the Cure committee for five years working to help educate North Texans and the world on the importance of continuing the battle against breast cancer.
“The mission of TCU Frogs for the Cure and our unique national partnership with Susan G. Komen is education, awareness and support for survivors,” said Ann Louden, chair of Frogs for the Cure and the TCU Chancellor’s Associate for Strategic Partnerships.
“One of our most unique programs is the production of an annual national music video featuring thousands of participants. Epic has provided amazing aerial services for the past six years…I greatly admire the commitment and dedication of Epic’s founder Brian Dunaway who generously donates the company’s services to Frogs for the Cure and whose energy and creativity inspires us.”
In 2005, TCU pioneered the first-ever Pink Out Game celebration at halftime of a football game. Now a tradition across the U.S., pink-themed tributes to cancer survivors are part of major athletic events across the country.
To build an even bigger celebration at athletic events, Frogs for the Cure created the concept of a music video to celebrate the courage of cancer survivors. Begun six years ago, the videos have gone national with filming in cities across the country, music by artists such as Josh Groban last year, and thousands of participants dancing for the cause. This year’s video features a brand new recording of the iconic song “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by artists Luke Wade and Mia Z from NBC’s The Voice.
“The new livery is a pink and purple ribbon which can be seen on the belly of our flagship helicopter as it flies over north Texas conducting flights. The month of October, we are advertising everywhere we fly that Epic Helicopters supports Frogs for the Cure and the fight against breast cancer,” said Brian Dunaway, Epic Helicopters president and CEO.
This year Frogs for the Cure kicked off its activities Oct. 1 and it continues through Oct. 30 when Luke Wade and Mia Z perform at a Texas Christian University campus concert.
Additional activities include:
  • Oct. 7 – TCU volleyball game at the TCU Rec Center Gym;
  • Oct. 14 – Feed Your Pink Side Luncheon – featuring Bob and Linda Carey, co-founders of The Tutu Project. The event will be emceed by NBC 5’s Deborah Ferguson;
  • Oct. 14 – More than 5,000 pink flags are placed in the shape of the breast cancer ribbon on the lawn of TCU’s Sadler Hall. Flags honor the memory and courage of breast cancer survivors. The flags will be on display Oct. 14 – 30;
  • Oct. 19 – The Pink Flamingo Lawn Flocking. Under the cover of darkness, TCU students plant pink flamingoes on lawns in Fort Worth during two weeks in October. The flocks are available to anyone wishing to make a gift to Susan G. Komen Fort Worth in honor or in memory of a breast cancer survivor;
  • Oct. 29 – Luke Wade and Mia Z halftime performance at the TCU vs. West Virginia – the 11th Annual Frogs for the Cure football game
