DLA ups Apache, Chinook support as part of Boeing contract

Boeing has received a $293-million performance-based contract from the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to provide aircraft parts and support that will enable DLA to provide essential logistics support to warfighters more quickly and effectively.

Boeing will provide support for 11 different aircraft: the AH-64 Apache and CH-47 Chinook helicopter series, along with the fixed-wing AV-8, B-1, B-52, C-17, E-3, E-6, F-15, F/A-18 and KC-135. Ground support equipment is also part of the arrangement. Work will be performed in Mesa, Ariz.; Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; Macon, Ga.; St. Louis; Heath, Ohio; Oklahoma City, Okla.; El Paso, Texas; and Puget Sound, Wash.

Under the agreement, multiple contracts will be awarded incrementally to Boeing during the next five years. DLA has a follow-on option for an additional five years.
This long-term partnership is the result of DLA challenging industry in 2012 to reduce costs by 20 percent and improve overall supply performance. Boeing and DLA will continue collaborating on new ways to streamline processes, enhance performance and improve affordability.
