DAC International, a Greenwich AeroGroup company, has collaborated with ABC Completions Inc., a privately held Canadian corporation, on its system to convert an existing electronic flight bag (EFB) mount into an iPad tablet mount.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration recently approved ABC Completions’ supplemental type certificate (STC) for the iPad and iPad Air as a Class 2 electronic flight bag. DAC International is providing two GDC-64 TAIUs that supply electrical power to the tablets for recharging the tablet battery, as an interface to the aircraft’s FMS for display of aircraft’s position and for presentation of graphical weather from an optional XM weather receiver.

“We are excited to be part of this project,” said general manager of DAC International Francisco Hernandez. “ABC Completions’ iPad mount is just one of many types of quality solutions DAC International has supported or spearheaded in its quest to continue to provide the latest technology solutions for the cockpit.”

Gary Nash, president of ABC Completions, is happy to be partnering with DAC International to be the first to bring this technology to market. “We have created a top quality solution for flight crews to enjoy the benefits of a Class 2 EFB for a very competitive price.”
