Air Comm Corporation and Air Methods Corporation, through its United Rotorcraft division, have signed a long-term supply agreement for environmental control systems (ECS). Air Comm will provide the heat and air conditioning systems to United Rotorcraft for installation in up to 250 Bell 407s that Air Methods is purchasing from Bell Helicopter over the next 10 years.
“We are extremely pleased to deepen our long relationship with Air Methods,” said Air Comm CEO Keith Steiner. “They have been a valued customer for over 20 years, and we are proud and looking forward to supporting them for the next 10 years.”
The supply agreement makes Air Comm the sole source supplier of the ECS systems which in turn allows Air Comm to provide Air Methods a wide range of “partnership services” including just in time delivery, line kitting, continuous improvement initiatives, ongoing ECS training and support, and substantial price advantages to Air Methods. “The agreement gives us great planning visibility, which allows us to do things for the customer such as reduce order lead and turnaround times to sub-30 days, extend warranty coverage, and provide full AOG spares coverage 24/7/365,” said Chad Rhoades, Air Comm’s director of operations.
“This is a milestone agreement which we hope can be a model for future agreements with other large fleet customers,” continued John Fiala, Air Comm’s corporate quality manager. “The agreement allows for the option to develop joint acceptance test procedures between us and United Rotorcraft, which will allow us to deliver the ECS directly from our dock to the aircraft, ready for installation. We’re currently discussing the logistics of that with the customer.”
