Air Methods Corporation has announced that its United Rotorcraft Division completed and delivered the first of four medically-equipped Bell 407GX helicopters to CareFlite, a non-profit corporation providing medical transport across North Texas. The other three medically-equipped Bell 407GXs are anticipated to be completed and delivered to CareFlite by the end of the year.
“United Rotorcraft is honored to have earned CareFlite’s trust in completing the medical interior for their four new Bell 407GXs,” said Mike Slattery, president, United Rotorcraft. “We were able to leverage our unique internal Federal Aviation Administration Organization Designation Authorization status to quickly obtain Supplemental Type Certification approval for the medical interior and avionics suite and complete the work on this first unit in only 90 days.”
Each Bell 407GX is equipped with United Rotorcraft’s HEMS medical interior, which includes medical mounts for a ventilator, infusion pump, defibrillator, and balloon pump. The avionics suite features the Garmin G1000H flight deck, which includes high-resolution LCD screens, hosting primary flight display, and multi-function display information, as well as an Integrated Avionics System with Helicopter Terrain Avoidance Warning System, Helicopter Synthetic Vision Technology, Traffic Information Systems, and more. United Rotorcraft also modified each of the Bell 407GXs for night vision operations. The paint was custom designed per CareFlite’s specifications and applied by United Rotorcraft, with the heart logo being painted in Chrome Allusion color-shifting paint.
