AgustaWestland Press Release | July 17, 2014

Estimated reading time 2 minutes, 24 seconds.

AgustaWestland is taking the opportunity to introduce the law enforcement community to the SW-4 light-single engine helicopter and its range of customer support and training offerings at the Airborne Law Enforcement Association annual meeting, taking place this week in Phoenix, Arizona.

The SW-4 is a light, single-engine helicopter with the maximum take-off weight of 3,968 pounds, equipped with a three-blade main rotor and a two-blade tail rotor. The aircraft is powered by a Rolls-Royce 250 C20-R/2(SP) turboshaft engine.

Compact and capable, the five-seat light utility helicopter will give attendees a preview of a competitively priced aircraft with a fully customizable interior that will meet the demands of law enforcement missions across the United States.

Key features include modern technology and sliding cabin doors, and along with ease of flying put the SW-4 at an excellent entry point into the light turbine helicopter market while ensuring the highest levels of safety for airborne law enforcement pilots and crew in all weather conditions. The aircraft is currently operating in Poland, China, Brazil, Italy, South Korea, and the Ukraine, in support of utility, training, parapublic, and military missions.

Joining the aircraft on display will be members of the AgustaWestland Philadelphia customer support and training team, highlighting new training systems and customer support services offered across all markets and missions to increase customer aircraft availability and further improve operational training.

AgustaWestland Philadelphia operates out of a 275,000 square foot facility, on a 39-acre site at Northeast Philadelphia Airport in Pennsylvania, providing employment for over 560 people. The facility also includes final assembly lines for the AW119Kx and AW139 helicopters, a parts supply depot for the Americas and a fully approved FAA and JAA repair station. AgustaWestland Philadelphia also performs helicopter customization, has a delivery center for AW109 Power and GrandNew aircraft, and provides maintenance services for customer aircraft based in the local area.
