Aeronav Avionics of Pitt Meadows, B.C., is in the final stages of U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) familiarization of its Aspen Avionics Evolution 1500 on the Airbus Helicopters AS350 series helicopter, following the award of a supplemental type certificate from Transport Canada.
“We expect to complete our final flight testing this spring, with issuance of FAA approval slated for June/July 2015,” said John Carinha, director of operations at Aeronav. “The U.S. market has been wanting an efficient and cost-effective glass panel solution for the AS350, and we are finally nearing the completion of the approval process and bringing the wish to reality.”
In other news, Aeronav recently underwent a major website overhaul. “In keeping with technology, despite being a little late to the party, we’ve parted ways with our flash-based site and transformed it into a platform that is viewable across all devices,” said Carinha. Offering a simpler and cleaner design, Aeronav features a variety of listed projects as well as products on its new site, along with its WiKIT (wire kit) template for clients to download for their wire-marking needs.
Aeronav also moved away from its e-store setup that placed the customer at arms length and created a barrier of sorts between the end sale and in house client support services. “Having the one to one collaboration on any sale or service need is vital and is truly what our ‘fabric’ was established on,” said Carinha. “The e-store, albeit a great product resource, was too much a self service idea that fell short on providing a more dynamic, technical and informed decision process for the end user on any given product sale.”
Aeronav specializes in aircraft electrical and avionics systems, and full service support.
