ADAC, a major air rescue and air ambulance operator in Europe, has ordered 14 new EC145T2 helicopters to replace the aging BK117 B2s in its fleet.
The ADAC HEMS Academy will adapt the training possibilities for all international customers. To accommodate future training needs, a new EC145T2 full flight simulator (FFS) is planned for 2015/2016 in addition to the existing worldwide unique EC145 FFS and EC135 FFS at the academy.
The new EC145T2 fleet will be equipped with the new customized EuroNav7 navigation system. As announced, this system will also be integrated into the upcoming EC145T2 simulator.
A well-equipped EC145T2 system training device will be designed to fulfill the advanced training needs for the professional pilots. This system is in development and will be available mid-2015.
All EC145T2 customers are invited to participate in the development and customization of the EC145T2 full flight simulator and the system trainer.
The International Helicopter Safety Team (IHST) has pointed out 10 ways to prevent helicopter accidents. Technical installations and risk management programs are among them, but most of these ways can be trained in a full flight simulator.
  • Improve autorotation training
  • Add advanced maneuvers to simulator training
  • Emphasize critical issues awareness in training
  • Enhance aircraft performance and limitation training
  • Strengthen emergency procedure training
Participants at the Royal Aeronautical Society’s mission training rehearsal in London stated unanimously that for psychomotoric training – skill training /mission training – a full flight simulator is the best solution.
