The residents of a remote Alaska town have had a rare fix of Mexican fast food after Taco Bell helicoptered in a truck to prepare 10,000 Doritos Locos tacos.
The free food was given to the 6,200 townspeople of Bethel, which lies in the west of the state, after the town found itself the victim of a prank last month. Fliers announcing the chains arrival in Bethel were distributed, only for the announcement to be later revealed as a hoax.
Executives at Taco Bell heard of the scheme, and launched Operation Alaska as a consolation package for Bethel residents. The consolation package contained 950 pounds of beef, 500 pounds of sour cream, 300 pounds of tomatoes, 300 pounds of lettuce and 150 pounds of cheddar cheese.
