Oakland Police Department has received a $10,000 donation from a private group to pay for more time in the air for the departments helicopter.
The donation, from Fueling California, helps toward offsetting the funding cuts the department has endured over the last few years the city councils contribution was cut from $350,000 to $100,000 in 2009, resulting in a reduction of annual flight hours from 1,000 in 2008, to just 200 last year.
