Welcome to the launch of www.verticalmag-au.com, the dedicated website for the new helicopter magazine Vertical Australasia.

My name is Elan Head. I’m the editor-in-chief of Vertical Magazine, which is based in North America. But I spent 2008 living and working in Australia, where I was fortunate enough to meet literally hundreds of the amazing men and women who are involved in the helicopter industry in Australia and New Zealand. (I also stuck around long enough to convert my U.S. licence to an Australian CPL(H), which I still hope to get a chance to use someday.)

Vertical Australasia, which debuts with the December-January issue, is Vertical Magazine’s first expansion outside of North America. It will borrow some content from the award-winning Vertical Magazine, including industry news stories and some of our most popular columns. Yet Vertical Australasia is, first and foremost, an Australasian magazine. We’re committed to covering the professional helicopter industry in Australasia using local contributors and local sources, and we welcome your news tips and story ideas. (Send those to our regional editor, Dennis Raubenheimer, at dennis@verticalmag.com.)

Everyone at Vertical’s parent company, MHM Publishing, is excited about launching Vertical Australasia. But we’re equally excited about www.verticalmag-au.com, which we hope will become a valuable resource and meeting ground for the helicopter industry in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific Region. Our main site, www.verticalmag.com, already gets brisk traffic, and it’s the global helicopter industry’s best source for news. Yet verticalmag-au.com — which has been designed from scratch by our web designer, Jeremy Law — offers a host of great features that aren’t yet available on our main site. We hope you take advantage of them (and if there’s anything else you’d like to see on here, just let us know!).
